The result is often a diet with no direction because too much, or too little of what’s essential tends to be harmful. Balance is often necessary.
Most people are guilty of eating too many carbohydrates on a daily basis. Especially low-quality carbohydrates that have a poor nutritional profile and a high glycemic index (GI). Eating mediocre sources of carbs can cause an adult to become nutritionally deprived while inflating their blood sugar levels over time.
Moreover, we’d like to mention granola as a source of carbohydrates. Granola is a staple in many diets because it is so versatile. It’s great with fruits, yogurt, or milk, and it provides for a satisfying breakfast. The problem, however, is granola tends to be highly caloric.
Just one cup of granola can contain up to 500 or more calories since the ingredients themselves are highly caloric. Rolled oats, nuts, and added sugars do not do any favors for someone who is a Type 2 diabetic trying to lower their blood sugar levels and lose weight. So eating large servings of granola on a daily basis could be a death sentence in the long-term as far as your health is concerned.

Fiber alone is beneficial for many adults since most Western diets are low in fiber. Fiber helps regulate digestion and blood sugar, which is great news for those who are frequently hungry or have high blood sugar levels.
Some research suggests granola even plays a role in preventing the development of cancer.
So, the question to consider is: Is granola bad for your health?
As you can see, it can be harmful to eat too much granola, or to eat it too frequently. But you would be missing out on many of its health benefits if you were to avoid it entirely. So as long as you are sensible with your portions, there is no reason why you shouldn’t make granola one of your go-to carbohydrates.
